Maker Spotlight - Charlotte Englefield

Maker Spotlights: each day we will be focusing on individual exhibitors, exploring their work and finding out what makes them tick...

Charlotte is a painter, passionate about producing artwork ranging from an almost photographic quality to a more relaxed informal style.

Inspired by nature and the environment around her, she loves capturing special places or pets on canvas and seeing the reaction of her customers when their commissions are completed.

"As a child I absolutely loved drawing and painting. I studied Art and Design at GCSE, 'A' level and I took a Foundation course at college before deciding not to continue this at degree level. After having my 3 children I decided it was time to pick up a paint brush again and began working on canvases for my home. Whilst working for a local hospice I was given the opportunity to sell my artwork from their Outreach Centres, which led to me eventually being able to start working full time as an artist."

When Charlotte paints, she creates an illusion of depth in her paintings, working with acrylics she applies many layers, repeatedly pulling lighter colours forward and then pushing them back with a darker translucent glaze.

When Charlotte is not painting in her studio she spends time with her children, friends, cat and two miniature dachshunds.
