Maker Spotlight - Kathy Hutton

Maker Spotlights: each day we will be focusing on individual exhibitors, exploring their work and finding out what makes them tick...

Kathy is a printmaker who finds inspiration in the simple things around her, quite often its a fallen leaf, a bare branch or the simple outline of a favourite cup that is the starting point for a new print.

Using different hand printing techniques Kathy creates one of a kind prints and small original editions.

Kathy’s home studio is light, airy over looking her garden and the fields beyond. The changing seasons and plants on her doorstep heavily influence her work and are also the cause of many daydreams!

Of her practice she says, “creating my art is a very big part of who I am. It gives me a strength and a sense of pride; creating art becomes a way to express myself”. When Kathy’s not in her studio she’s always on the lookout for changes in the seasons, signs of new growth - this is what constantly inspires her.

Kathy also takes on private bespoke commissions and teaches various techniques in printing without a press at small group workshops in her home studio and at UK events and venues.
