Artist Statement:

I am a South African born pastel artist based in the UK. I paint in a realistic style as it connects me to the subject I'm painting and I enjoy the challenge of capturing the beauty and ‘feel’ of what I’m seeing. Soft pastel is my choice of medium as I love the feeling of holding the pigment in my hands and the direct approach of putting the colour straight onto paper. Pastels have a beautiful luminosity due to the layering of pigment crystals placed on paper and it is truly wonderful to see a pastel painting in person.
