My studio practice is rooted in the mundane and ordinary. I am drawn to objects that are cheap to buy but, by some, are tossed away or shoved in a corner to gather dust. Their history is precious to me and the stories of the people who have touched and produced them. If working outside, whether it be an urban or countryside setting, I paint quickly and messily, rarely using photos taken, so the piece reflects the fleeting nature of the landscape. I will always take home items collected on the way; a swollen seed head, or a bristly pine cone.
